New owner for Mesa Royale gives residents reprieve

The City of Mesa has been informed by representatives of the current owner of the Mesa Royale Mobile Home Park that the sale of the property has closed. In light of this new development, the City will work with the new owner, a California-based company with expertise in trailer and mobile home parks and real estate development, to make the most needed infrastructure improvements to the property, eliminate vacant units and make the most critical improvements to individual trailers that will render those units safe to occupy.

"The City's primary concern is, and has always been, the health and safety of the Mesa Royale residents," Mesa Mayor John Giles said. "We acknowledge the great cooperation and work from the Mesa United Way, A New Leaf, For Our City faith-based agencies, City staff and former State Senator Jerry Lewis, who offered tremendous assistance facilitating the sale and helping coordinate efforts to assist residents."

The cooperation of these individuals and groups means safety improvements will be made, residents will get information about resources available to them to meet their needs and the community will have more time to develop a long term solution to help them.

To date, approximately 15 families have received or are in the process of receiving resources to transition to new locations from social service agencies and organizations.
