In anticipation of a possible storm, the City has put additional personnel on standby status. City staff is monitoring sand bag locations and is working constantly to replenish the sand and bag supplies as necessary. City departments have also taken additional measures at various locations throughout the community in preparation for potential heavy rainfall.
The City of Mesa has sand and bags available at the following locations: (Please bring your own shovel)
oFire Station 202, 830 S. Stapley
oFire Station 204, 1426 S. Extension
oFire Station 205, 730 S. Greenfield
oFire Station 209, 7035 E. Southern
oFire Station 212, 2430 S. Ellsworth
Filled sandbags are available at the following locations:
oTransportation Building, 300 E. 6th St. (west side)
oEast Mesa Service Center, 6935 E. Decatur (front parking lot)
Residents who receive sandbags and are finished using them are encouraged NOT to throw them away. They can either keep the sandbags or return them to the City facility where they received them. Sandbags ARE NOT for commercial use.
Based on your experience with previous storms, if you have had problems with flooding the City strongly encourages you to take steps to prepare for that possibility.
