Volunteers for Make a Difference Day in Mesa truly did make a difference! More than 750 people volunteered for 22 beautification and cleanup projects throughout the City of Mesa Oct. 27 during National Make a Difference Day The volunteers worked 1,901 hours during the event with a total dollar value of more than $49,500 to the City.

"Mesa truly embraces Make a Difference Day," Mayor John Giles said. "The volunteers giving their time and talents to these projects are helping an entire neighborhood look its best and that builds pride throughout the City, block by block."

Residents, neighborhood groups, local businesses, church groups and City of Mesa employees donated their time on Make a Difference Day. Volunteers created little libraries in various neighborhoods and packed 48 little library care boxes. They distributed 1,400 resource bags; painted two houses and 300 curb addresses and cleaned many yards, alleys and neighborhoods.

While Mesa is thankful for all of our talented hard-working volunteers, there is always a need for more. Visit our website at www.mesaaz.gov/volunteer and explore all the great opportunities awaiting you.
