Transportation Crews Prepared to Respond to Monsoon Storm

Mesa, AZ - The City of Mesa Transportation Department Field operations crews are actively monitoring the storm and rainfall activity and have our storm water pump equipment staged and ready to respond to any potential of road flooding that may occur as a result of the storm.

Transportation's primary goal is to ensure the safety of the traveling public during the storm.

Sand and empty bags are available at the following locations (bring your own shovel):

Fire Station 202, 830 S. Stapley Drive Fire Station 204, 1426 S. Extension Road Fire Station 205, 730 S. Greenfield Road Fire Station 209, 7035 E. Southern Ave. Fire Station 212, 2430 E. Ellsworth Road Transportation Building, 300 E. 6th St. East Mesa Service Center, 6935 E. Decatur St.

If you arrive to an intersection with the signal out, treat it as a four-way stop and proceed with caution. Behind the scenes, our technology has already alerted Transportation signal techs of the outage via text message and email and they are responding. Pay attention to hazard signs such as "Do Not Cross When Flooded," "Road Closed Due to Flooding," and "Roadblocks." Ignoring barriers or signs can threaten life and property.

Report downed trees or other hazards in the public right-of-way to the City of Mesa's UCC by calling 480-644-3038, which is staffed 24/7 and will dispatch City of Mesa Transportation's Road Hazard Response Crew to respond.
