To support growing commercial, industrial and residential developments in Mesa Arizona's Gateway area, CenturyLink, Inc. (NYSE: CTL) will expand its network infrastructure in the area.
"The expansion of CenturyLink's fiber in the Gateway area will help drive the future of Mesa's Elliott Road Technology Corridor," said John Giles, mayor, City of Mesa. "Their new capacity opens the door to major tech company expansions and new business, while keeping Mesa at the forefront of innovation."
This investment includes expanding the current footprint by more than 90 route miles of fiber, creating a ring for the East Valley and allowing customers in the area to purchase protected network services.
"I'm happy that we were able to bring city staff and CenturyLink together to plan the expansion of their fiber network across the Gateway Airport region and the Technology Corridor," said Kevin Thompson, District 6 councilmember. "This important investment in infrastructure will allow businesses in the area to increase their capabilities and allow them to grow."
The expansion will support new data centers and technology companies planned for the area; the SkyBridge development at the Phoenix-Mesa Gateway Airport; educational institutions including Arizona State University's Polytechnic Campus, Mesa Unified School District and the East Valley Institute of Technology; the newly completed Dignity Health hospital; and numerous other area businesses, as well as consumers.
