November 27, 2019 at 9:40 am

Looking for a good book written by someone in your own community? Authors from around Arizona will all be in one place as Mesa Main Library, 64 E First St, hosts its first Local Children's Author Book Fair on Saturday, Dec. 7 from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m.

Children's book authors and illustrators will have books for sale at this event and will be available to answer questions about their writing process. Additionally, there will be storytimes at 10 a.m. and 11 a.m.

Authors attending include Michael Hale, author/illustrator of Bad Monkey Business; B.G. Hennessey, author of A Christmas Wish for Corduroy, a prequel to the beloved classics written by Don Freeman, Corduroy (1968) and A Pocket for Corduroy (1978) and Terri Fields, author of Burro's Tortilla and ONEBOOKAZ award winner Danger in the Desert.

Mesa Public Library supports local authors by hosting quarterly book fairs at the Main, Red Mountain and Dobson Ranch branches. Each fair has a different age group emphasis and will give Mesa residents a chance to learn about the writers around them. Mesa Public Library also features a local author book collection housed at the Main Library location.

A complete listing of upcoming library events can be found at www.events.mesalibrary.org. Authors interested in being a part of upcoming book events can email localazauthors@mesaaz.gov.
