Donations needed for ABC program in Mesa

Make Mesa A Better Community! Donations to the ABC: A Better Community utility donation program aid Mesa residents in need during the holiday season and year round.

ABC: A Better Community provides shelter, meals and other essential services to Mesa children, families and seniors in need. For the 19/20 fiscal year, the City has allocated $108,000 in ABC grant money to five non-profit agencies:

Arizona Brainfood - Weekend food bags for children

East Valley Adult Resources - Meals on Wheels for the elderly

Maggie's Place - Shelter services at The Hannah House

Teen Lifeline - Crisis services

The Boys & Girls Club of the East Valley - After School Program

During the past year, ABC donations have assisted Mesa non-profit organizations with providing the following services:

Provided 45,852 shelter nights for children and families

Provide 65,485 meals for children and families

Provide shelter and counseling for 9 households experiencing domestic violence

Provide medical services to 827 homeless individuals

Provided service programs to 720 homeless youth

Provided employment training to 276 special needs individuals

Provided and delivered 62,222 meals to 561 seniors

Provided 203 seniors with transportation services for grocery shopping, pharmacy pickups, doctor, vision, and dental visits.

Donating to ABC has never been easier. City utility customers can contribute by automatically donating money with their monthly utility bill payment. Visit www.mesaaz.gov/abc to enroll. You can also enroll by calling City of Mesa Customer Service at (480) 644-2221. This allows you to add a donation of five dollars per month or any amount of your choice. You can also round up on the dollar on your utility bill or contribute a one-time amount.

If you are not a utility customer, you can still donate. Just send a check to City of Mesa Customer Service, P.O. Box 1466, Mesa, AZ 85211-1466 and write "ABC: A Better Community" in the memo area.
