Bring in a non-perishable food item to one of the four branches of the Mesa Public Library and $1 of overdue fines will be waived.
"It's a great way for our patrons to clear off some of their fines and help the United Food bank at the same time," Mesa Library Director, Heather Wolf said. "For every non-perishable food item donated $1 will be waived, so if you bring in three cans of food, $3 will be waived. It's a win-win opportunity."
Food for fines will be going on from April 13 through April 30. All donated food items will support the United Food Bank.
