Children, teenagers and adults are encouraged to stop by THINKspot at Red Mountain Library, 635 N. Power Road, and make a blanket for Phoenix Children's Hospital. The event is being held Saturday, July 21 from 10 a.m. to noon. No sewing skills are required.
Already made a blanket? Awesome! Finished blankets and fabric donations will also be accepted between now and July 21. Any soft and machine washable fabric will suffice. For pattern ideas visit, www.projectlinus.org.
Upon admission to the hospital, each patient receives a special blanket of their own to comfort them during their stay. Although something small, these blankets make a significant impact on every patient.
The blanket-making initiative is a result of the positive community response to last year's Kids-Giving Day event, creating activity bags for patients undergoing chemotherapy treatment.
