Mesa Celebrates Valley Bike Month

March 20, 2023 at 2:44 pm

Valley Bike Month is quickly approaching. To celebrate, the City of Mesa's Bicycle and Pedestrian Program is hosting two bicycle events - CycloMesa Festival on Saturday, April 1 and Bike to Work Day on Wednesday, April 19.

CycloMesa Festival - Saturday, April 1

CycloMesa is back on April 1! The annual, free festival will take place at the Plaza at Mesa City Center from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. in downtown Mesa. Festivalgoers can watch BMX Freestyle stunt shows, Roller Derby demos, create spin art using the pedal-power of a bicycle, participate in a scavenger hunt, tour ASU MIX Center, listen to live music from local bands, climb a rock wall and more. Plus, special kids programming includes a bike rodeo hosted by Phoenix Children's Hospital, giant inflatables, facepainting and a bicycle safety storytime presented by Mesa Public Library.

Bike to Work Day - Wednesday, April 19

Get ready to ride during Mesa's Bike to Work Day! The annual event encourages commuters to bike to work (or wherever they need to go), helping save money, improve health and lower stress levels -- all while reducing traffic congestion and improving air quality. This year will be the first year that Mesa's celebration will be open to anyone who lives, works, or enjoys spending time in Mesa. Join the group ride or bike directly to the party at the Plaza at Mesa City Center. The first 300 people to RSVP and check in at the Mesa Bike to Work Day will receive a limited-edition T-shirt designed by local artist Jayarr Steiner and a voucher to use for breakfast that morning. All attendees can enjoy music from a local DJ, live painting, complimentary coffee and the return of the Green Expo with helpful tips to prepare you for Earth Day on Saturday, April 22.
