Celebrate Mesa and Mother Earth with an Earth Day Spring Fling on Saturday, April 15, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Pioneer Park, 526 E. Main St.
The Living Green Village features more than 20 exhibitors to celebrate Earth Day a few days early with fun and educational activities for everyone. Attendees will learn about trees, gardening, recycling and energy and water conservation while helping Mesa reach its sustainability goals.
With the City's new "Trees are Cool" tree planting challenge, Master Gardeners will have a tree bookmark activity and the nonprofit organization Trees Matter will share food forest recipes using native tree pods.
Take a selfie at our tree-hugging booth and you are invited to join West Coast Arborists for a tree planting at 11 a.m.
Mesa Urban Garden volunteers will be talking composting and vermicomposting with worms.
Citizens' Climate Lobby will share details about new energy efficiency incentives available to homeowners.
Local businesses, such as Stardust Building Supplies and Bookmans Entertainment Exchange, will provide information about the recycling of household items.
Staff from Mesa's Household Hazardous Materials Facility will be giving away spray bottles with a collection of recipes for making your own natural cleaners, while supplies last.
Electric car owners will display their vehicles and share their experience driving electric.
In addition to the Green Village Activities, Mesa's spring party in the park includes a petting zoo, live music, carnival rides, food trucks and free raffle prizes. City departments will have booths with information and fun, interactive activities for children. The Mesa Police Air Unit and a Mesa Fire and Medical Department vehicle will be on display.
Admission and parking to Celebrate Mesa are free but there is a $5 fee for unlimited access to the carnival rides
