The City of Mesa is calling on residents to roll up their sleeves and take part in Love Your City National Day of Service on Saturday, Sept. 13. A variety of volunteer projects will take place in all City Council districts, with start times between 7 a.m. and 10 a.m., allowing volunteers to make an impact before temperatures climb.
Projects include a garden build at Paz de Cristo, fence restoration at House of Refuge, alley cleanups, curb number painting to help first responders, craft stations at Aster Aging and multiple Mesa Public Schools improvement projects.
Volunteers are still needed. Individuals, families, schools and community groups are encouraged to participate, and information is available online. Groups interested in volunteering together should contact Katie Pollak, Mesas Citywide Volunteer Coordinator, at volunteer@mesaaz.gov.
Mesa is partnering with JustServe to host Love Your City in conjunction with the National Day of Service, observed annually on or near September 11. The day honors the courage of first responders and the spirit of unity that emerged in the wake of the 9/11 terrorist attacks.
