Spring Training Underway in Mesa

February 19, 2026 at 8:34 am

It's a great way to enjoy sunshine, relaxed ballpark vibes and the chance to see star players and rising prospects up close before the regular season begins. Spring training is underway and the Chicago Cubs will play their first home game of the 2026 Cactus League season at Sloan Park, 2330 W. Rio Salado Parkway, on Friday, Feb. 20 against the Chicago White Sox. The Athletics make their home debut on Sunday, Feb. 22 at Hohokam Stadium, 1235 N. Center St., against the Cleveland Guardians. Both the Cubs and Athletics will have 16 home games this spring.

Drivers to either ballpark should give themselves plenty of time to arrive early. If you are heading to Sloan Park from the north, you are advised to use the Red Mountain Freeway (State Route 202) and Dobson Road interchange, head south on Dobson and turn right at Cubs Way and/or Bass Pro and proceed west to the parking areas. Drivers from the south should go north on Dobson Road and left at Cubs Way. Avoid using Rio Salado Parkway to access stadium parking due to heavy traffic. Hohokam Stadium can only be accessed from Center Street, either from McKellips Road to the north or from Brown Road to the south.

Mesa Riverview offers a free shuttle to and from the shopping center every 20 minutes during Cubs home games at Sloan Park starting two hours prior to each game and continuing until 30 minutes after each game ends.

The City of Mesa and Valley Metro offer other transportation options to get to and from both ballparks:

Route 48 - 48th St.

Hohokam Stadium:
