Mesa Invites Residents to Share Input on 2026/27 Budget

February 26, 2026 at 7:33 pm

The City of Mesa is beginning its annual budget process and invites residents to learn more, ask questions and share their feedback on community priorities as the Fiscal Year 2026/27 budget is developed.

"Mesa is prepared to navigate today's economic pressures while continuing to deliver core services and invest in our future," said City Manager Scott Butler. "Community input is essential, and we encourage residents to participate in upcoming budget meetings to help shape the year ahead."

As part of its ongoing commitment to transparency, the City will host three community input sessions in March to provide an overview of the budget process and allow residents to share feedback on City services and priorities. Budget information and an online feedback form are also available at mesaaz.gov/budget.

Community input sessions:

  • Tuesday, March 4: 6 p.m. Northeast Public Safety Facility, 1333 N. Power Road
  • Tuesday, March 10: 6 p.m. The Post, 26 N. Macdonald
  • Wednesday, March 11: 6 p.m. Gateway Library, 5036 S. Eastmark Parkway

Beginning Thursday, April 2, City departments will present their budget proposals to City Council, with presentations continuing through April 30. As part of this process, departments have been asked to reduce their base budgets by 2% to help balance the budget after the state's elimination of the residential rental tax and to address other financial pressures.

"Mesa continues to be in a strong financial position thanks to careful planning and sound fiscal management," said Mesa Mayor Mark Freeman. "As we look ahead, I want to hear from all our residents. I encourage everyone to attend a session, learn about the budget and share your thoughts. Whether you agree, disagree, or have new ideas, your input matters. Listening to our community helps guide the decisions that impact our neighborhoods and quality of life."

Following public input and City Council review, the tentative budget is scheduled for adoption on May 18, with final adoption planned for June 1. The new budget will go into effect on July 1, 2026.
