Mesa Parks, Recreation and Community facilities invites the community to attend the annual Pachanga en la Piscina bilingual water safety event at Carson Aquatic Complex, 605 N. Westwood, on Saturday, May 30, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
The free, family-friendly event will feature for free public swimming, water safety education and an exciting live rescue demonstration at 1 p.m.
The live demonstration will include Mesa Lifeguards and Mesa Fire and Medical's EMS team doing a mock water rescue to help educate the public about water safety and life-saving procedures. A narration will be read aloud in both English and Spanish to each step of the rescue.
During the demonstration, lifeguards will perform an in-water rescue, remove a simulated victim from the pool and administer CPR and AED assistance using a training mannequin before transferring care to Mesa Fire and Medical personnel. Following the demonstration attendees will have the opportunity to ask questions about CPR and emergency protocols.
