Downtown Mesa welcomed its newest hotel with a ribbon-cutting ceremony at 233 E. Main St. The 233 Suites, a 76-room boutique hotel operating under the Unscripted by Hyatt brand, anchors one of the city's most anticipated redevelopment projects alongside Crust Simply Italian, Bombolino's Caf and The Nightingale speakeasy plus 13,000 square feet of new class A office space.
"Mesa is becoming a destination, and that means we need places for people to stay. The opening of The 233 Suites helps meet the growing demand from visitors while strengthening our downtown economy. Every new hotel room supports local restaurants, shops, entertainment venues and jobs," said Mesa Mayor Mark Freeman. "This project strengthens our downtown, supports local businesses and it's just the beginning of what's ahead for our downtown."
The new Hyatt hotel features guest rooms with full kitchens, meeting and collaboration spaces, fitness amenities, guest laundry facilities and a pool. Crust offers dinner service, and Bombolino's offers breakfast, grab and go options, coffee, gelato and lunch service.
"The 233 brings new energy and hospitality to downtown Mesa," said Councilmember Jenn Duff. "Visitors can stay steps away from our world-class museums, theaters and event spaces, while residents gain fresh new options for dining and gathering. Together, these additions strengthen the uniquely local experience that makes downtown Mesa special."
The project also represents a successful redevelopment effort. After the original project stalled during bankruptcy proceedings, Soltrust and Hospitality Capital Partners, co-managers of the project, acquired the property and reimagined the planned apartment development into a boutique hospitality destination under the Unscripted by Hyatt brand.
"Transforming the original apartment concept into a boutique hotel required creativity, persistence and a shared vision from everyone involved," said Keith Mishkin, Managing Partner of Hospitality Capital Partners. "We're especially grateful to the City of Mesa for being an outstanding partner throughout the process. Their collaboration and commitment to the continued growth of downtown helped make this unique mixed use development a reality."
Unscripted by Hyatt marks a significant milestone in the city's ongoing downtown revitalization and underscores Mesa's commitment to creating a thriving, walkable urban center. Together with Crust, Bombolino's and The Nightingale, the hotel creates a vibrant destination that enhances the visitor experience, supports the area's growing tourism and convention economy and serves as a catalyst for continued investment throughout downtown.
